BRIEF HISTORY OF JUNGOL

Jungol is the musical vehicle of brothers Josh and Graham Yoder, childhood friend Andres Miller and Mark Garretson. The music they create hangs in the territory of electronic experimental rock, being sometimes moody and ethereal and sometimes loud and complex.
“Much of the respect for Jungol by the Atlanta music community comes from the sheer originality of their songwriting, as well as their impressive technically skilled experimental style.” Performer Magazine
Twin brothers and founding members Josh and Graham have inhabited Atlanta’s music scene with various ensembles since 2000. They have independently released 3 full-length albums and several EP's. These releases along with their live show have gained the group positive critical attention as well as a loyal fanbase which has led to consistently sold-out concerts in their hometown of Atlanta. The live show is energetic and danceable, full of synths, live looping, and powerful vocal melodies, all on a path of restless rhythmical changes. Jungol has opened for some acclaimed acts such as Echo and the Bunnymen, Killer Mike, Gogol Bordello, Bosnian Rainbows and Free Moral Agents. Graham's solo project, Dark Room, has opened for Polica, Baths, The Deer Tracks, Hundred Waters, Braids, Astronautalis and Shlomo.
After touring relentlessly for years Jungol took a break to focus their efforts on a film project called GO SOFTLY and a brand-new repertoire of material. The film was initially released as twelve vignettes, almost one a month throughout 2013. The full 30-minute film is available to view in its entirety on jungol.net and has won the band Best Experimental Band of 2013 for Creative Loafing’s Best of Awards.
On June 21st 2014 Jungol released Ghost Knocks, their first full-length album in 4 years. Ghost Knocks was written and recorded during the making of their film Go Softly. The album was also chosen as one of the best and most anticipated albums of 2014 in Creative Loafing.

Following the release of Ghost Knocks, Jungol began putting on performance art shows all over Atlanta. The performances were mostly large-scale productions which included costumes, large puppets, projections, theatrical storytelling, choreography and of course music.

SOME THINGS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID

” There are bands that find their niche in the local music scene, and then there are bands that create one of their own.  Jungol is an example of the latter, having forged their own path in Atlanta and beyond.”
-Performer Magazine 2010 (Featured Band June 2010)

“The album stays true to Jungol’s indefinable experimental path…thriving tribal beats, soaring guitar riffs, electro pop power and skyrocketing and passionate vocals that will no doubt carry Jungol and Over the Sun and Under the Radar to the glory that they both undoubtedly deserve. ”
-Beatlanta (on OTSAUTR)

“This is pop, catchy and hook-heavy, masquerading as artful, angular prog, and it’s simply brilliant. Few Atlanta records this year sounded this polished… or thrilling.”
-Latest Disgrace 2011 (Top 10 Best Atlanta Albums of 2010)

“Jungol/ Best Local Experimental Music Act/Runner Up/Reader’s Pick”
-Creative Loafing best of 2010
